This year, 2018, is the centenary of Irish women winning the right to vote. In the general election of December 1918 Irish women voted for the first time, although they had to be over 30 years of age and landowners. It is also the 100th anniversary of the election of Ireland’s first female Member of Parliament – Countess Markievicz. In commemoration of these historic events Meath County Council and the Library Service, in association with Pegasus Consulting, are pleased to host RTÉ broadcaster and historian Dr. Myles Dungan with a team of Ireland’s most sought – after historians for a Seminar on ‘The Changing Lives and Roles of Mná Na hÉireann in the early years of the 20th Century’.
